When I say that you need to eat Vegetables I mean food that is Dense, and full of fiber and water and vitamins. Salad is not Vegetables. The reason you see so many "beer bellies" today is because of undigested/rotting/impassable waste that builds up in your 2 mile stretch of pipes. And its not really fat at all, its more like severe bloatedness. Your body needs "Real Fiber" which comes from eating hand fulls of vegetables every day. (Yes, Hand Fulls! 2-6 hand fulls to be exact depending on your size.) Now I am not a fan of raw veggies and I also am not a fan of feeling bloated. So to save time and effort on my digestive enzymes I cook my veggies down significantly. So its easier to eat and also easier to digest. (Less Gas too) What about the vitamins you cook out?  Yes you do cook out a percentage of vitamins depending on what vitamin. It usually gets passed into the water that your cooking the veggies in and they get discarded when pouring out the water mid cook.  (BTW, this remind me, for those of you that are complaining about soggy veggies, don't forget to strain the water out with the lid when cooking on the stove during the cook that way they dont cook down in their juice too much.) At the end of the day "The Big Secret" to weight loss and keeping it off forever thru diet alone is to stop eating man made food and start eating God made food. The percentage of this ratio kept over time will directly reflect ones inner and outer health. What percentage of your diet is processed and what percentage of your diet is 100% Real Natural in its Original State only slightly altered thru your own cooking?

DO NOT BE A PARROT! (Or whatever other bird just repeats what it hears lol) The more I learn thru my own research the more I realize how many people are misguided. The things I hear in public day to day make me shake my head. Its not that the individual at the time is wrong, it's that the individual is like many today who follow the herd blindly. Maybe it has always been this way, maybe humans have always taken the words of others as factual truth without actually taking the time to do the research.  If you agree that most people today will take something they hear and run with it as truth then you must also accept to yourself that a lot of the things you think you know... you don't know at all...   Unless of course you have read the case studies regarding whatever topic...  You can not even know for sure if what you learn in a textbook is 100% accurate unless you personally have read the research studies proving/disproving what ever the topic is.   Ok, Now I am going to tie this in with diets and supplements. When you take the word of an industry as fact when the industry is in the business of selling you something then you are putting yourself in a dangerous situation. Most of your "studies" are funded for by the industry/company trying to sell the product. If you are not going to do the research and instead take the word of others then do yourself a favor. Stick to an all natural diet that consists of only vegetables, lean meats, fruits, nuts and roots etc. And trust me, most of you will not be doing any research because most of you are like everyone else...  But.. Maybe you are different... So if you haven't gotten the point and you only take the words of others then please listen to my words and my words only.... Do you want to lose weight? Do you feel unhealthy? Do you want to feel good again? Do you want to have the healthiest diet possible? Then only, I mean ONLY eat... (No Grains) Vegetables Lean Meats (Not beef or pork) Fruits Vegetables Nuts Roots Vegetables etc (AND ONLY DRINK WATER) Now I know this is basically the opposite of what everyone else does. But if you are doing what everyone else does then you are following the herd. The herd likes quick fixes, fast cash and an easy way out on a nice comfortable sidewalk. Stop following the sidewalk and START PAVING YOUR OWN ROAD.

Weight Loss Is A Family Effort There is always an exception to the rule, I have a couple clients that do not let the negativity of their household bring them down, but for most people its who they are surrounded with that are often the source of the problem.  If your household suffers from the same food disorders as you do or if they even eat on a regular basis the food you are trying to avoid it can be very difficult to lose weight. For many of us we have to be taken out of the situation to completely avoid the food that makes us fat. Even today as a Personal Trainer, Motivator and health fanatic I still have the hardest time saying no to certain foods once they are in my house. Luckily I have a wife kind enough to acknowledge my problem and hide her treats so I don't find them :)  We are constantly in a metaphoric dance exchanging energy back and forth with the people around us. This is why you will feel so drained if you are around someone is very negative, at the same time however you are probably causing some type of emotional disruption with the negative person because positive and negative both push away from each other. Often when one household member makes a change for the better and the other one is not willing to also change for the better it results in friction.   This is why Weight Loss Is A Family Effort. If you are wanting to lose weight and you find yourself in the position that the people around you do not support you then you must acknowledge this, and do the best you can to get them to be understanding of the situation and explain to them that you will need their support, hopefully they come to understand the seriousness of the situation sooner rather then later.  Not only does it benefit you to have the support of your loved ones but if they also suffer from the same poor food choices you could be saving their life or even better showing them how they can appreciate their life even more by experiencing the immediate effects of switching to a natural healthy diet. - Patrick

" The Weight Loss Secret "  By: The Law of Motion Personal Training It's what you eat, not what you do.   One of the major misconceptions about weight loss is that in order to lose weight you need to work out. That could not be any further from the truth!    Weight Loss has to be approached from all angles. Hormonal imbalances that are not addressed first will hamper weight loss drastically so its important to go over your diet with a nutritionist to make sure your food intake is relative to you as an individual. If you think you have a hormone imbalance, don't fret. The majority of most the problems and symptoms we experience can be remedied with a more healthy diet.    When you look into the mirror you are literally looking at the past.   Every small choice you make determines what you see in the future, when you look into the glass that never lies you are looking at the past and what your choices added up to. Knowing this you must take this knowledge and use it to your power knowing that from this point on every small choice you make adds up to what you will see this time next year. Don't let a trainer sell you on "exercise = weight loss"      People think that they need to work out to lose weight and I tell every client that walks in my gym that they do not need me to lose weight. I tell them that they only need to follow my nutrition guideline, which I give out for free. People are usually shocked when I tell them this because I am not approaching them like someone who wants their business. I speak to them like I speak to my family. I wouldn't hide weight loss secrets. Unfortunately the fitness industry, more specifically the "exercise industry" do not sell the truth of a total and forever diet change. They sell you on exercise 5x a week which does burn calories and if you do it enough and sorta watch what you eat then you do lose weight. But you only lose weight because you ran a calorie deficit and temporarily stopped eating the food you "love so much."    So typically what happens next is you reach your goal and you stop working out all the time, and because you never did a total diet change your body gains weight again and because your diet consists of man made foods and not enough water you are never satisfied.    At the end of the day the only way to finally beat the fat gain for good is to stop eating what everyone around you eats (processed food, yes even health bars) and start eating lots of vegetables and lean meats, a little bit of fruit and a little bit nuts. You are not going to find some secret that lets you eat the man made crap that is plaguing the world. There is no magic dust that works (Yes they do sell that now too) No pills, No weird unnatural diet, and No exercise plan that can overcome the rate your mouth consumes empty calories (sugars, heavy simple carbs, starches, i.e 95% of the grocery store)   Basically if it doesn't Grow, Crawl, Swim or Walk then Do Not Eat It!  There you have it, that is the weight loss secret. Its not "fun" and "enjoyable" like all the food that makes you fat. But it is natural, it is completely 100% healthy and it can fix most of the symptoms people experience and it cant be sold which is why you don't hear it all over the tv and radio.  -Patrick

True Story:   In the 18th century lived an everyday normal person like yourself. Back then life was different. He like most of the people back then farmed for a living and mostly traded goods for goods, he worked hard to survive and support his family making sure they had enough to eat for the coming winter. And this is how they spent each year.   England moves in and takes control and starts demanding taxes which the farmer can not afford because prior to this he had little need for silver or gold, all he needed to do was grow enough food for his family and to trade for supplies for the coming season.   However he does manage to sell enough each year to pay the taxes but time takes its toll and the farmer passes. However his son is there to take his place as it was back then the son would usually follow in his fathers footsteps.   Unlike his father who had more of a rebellion because he was there pre english takeover his son was raised into the pre capitalist world that had a monetary demand. The country of england convinces this new and weaker farmer to stop farming food and start farming exports to make money which he does. So he stops growing and starts buying food. He starts making money now selling his exports and his family seems to be better off and stronger because now they work less and have more.   Now fast forward a few generations and the newest of the farmer family is no longer farming at all, he has moved into the 20th century. His family worked hard farming so he doesn't have to. All they wanted was a better future for their kids then they had and eventually the family got it.   And here you are today. In evolutionary standards you are identical to that hard worker farmer many generations down.   You see, that farmer and everyone before him went thru some very hard times. During the course of thousands of years the body became very good at staying alive. One of the survival techniques our bodies use to stay alive is storing fat for hard times and times of hunger. Unfortunately for our mid sections sake we never go hungry and that age old survival technique of storing fat has become so efficient that all you have to do is look at a slice of pizza and your belt gets tighter.   What can you do about it? The Top 5 Things You Can Do To Lose Weight   1. Stop stressing. (Our bodies way of dealing with stress is slowing down our fat metabolism and increasing fat storing hormones. )   2. Avoid empty calories. (We are meant to eat calories rich in vitamins and water, when you eat man made food which is pretty much most of your american diet, your body does not get the nourishment it needs and it continues to send you hunger signals even after you eat. )   3. Drink only water and nothing else. (This is so obvious but we are so far separated that the idea of only drinking water is "foreign" and "boring" and that in itself is an issue. Don't you think? Most people suffer from chronic dehydration and they are unaware of it. Also the pulse your brain sends for thirst is the same pulse for hunger, most people think of thirst in relation to a physical symptom but the symptom is really a greater symptom of chronic dehydration which will leave you always wanting more, this is the reason why you can keep eating and eating late at night to never be satisfied and why you are so thirsty when you wake up in the morning.   4. Avoid sugar and simple carbohydrates. (Carbs turn into sugar, and sugar spikes your insulin. Insulin is a hormone and plays a huge role in so many actions the body takes. Every time you eat a sweet or too much simple carbs you over work your pancreas pumping loads of insulin causing your body to become insulin resistant. The pancreas cant keep up which causes you to be a diabetic and we all know what happens after that. Tremendous weight gain, lowered libedo, poor cirulation, heart disease, loss of limbs, etc.   5. Get your hormones checked. (If you are having trouble losing weight, it could possible be a hormone imbalance. I am not a big believer in medications. However there are circumstances where medication is the only option for weight loss. i.e hormone therapy. Know your stuff tho and don't get sold by doctors pushing drugs. You have access to the same studies they do and you will probably spend more time reading the study then they do if they even read it at all. If you want questions on how to get access to medical journals let me know and I will help you. I read them for fun.)

You CAN NOT go on a temporary diet and expect your results to be permanent. At the end of the day at some point you will sit back and realize that certain foods just make you fat and feel like crap.  The only reason you keep going back to these simple carb based foods that are high in sugar and salt is because you have a hormone addiction to the insulin.   This is why people always say "But I love bread" "But I love Pasta" "What you don't understand is I come from an italian family" etc.  Its not because you come from an italian family, its because your italian family is addicted to that insulin rush they get from bread and pasta and they pass the preventable hormone imbalance on a nice healthy serving of spaghetti every other night because its easy and quick. Or maybe macaroni?  Take a moment and look around you at the foods that are trademark favorites for the family to eat. They are super high in simple carbs, sugars, salt (Sodium). Do you ever stop to ask yourself why all of these foods share similarities? Because behind the scenes that have a drug like effect that make us feel good, it's why that bread roll satisfies you so much.   And food companies know this, and this is why 98% of the food in the grocery store is packed full of all kinds of good things that taste good and are sure to lead your pancreas sucked dry  and screaming for more of that sweet sweet diabetic inducing insulin overload.  Want to lose weight and keep it off forever? Change the food you eat and give time for your taste buds to recover from the salt overload it is used too. Start eating nothing but vegetables, lean meats, fruits, nuts. Want a good rule of thumb to follow for the perfect diet? If it dont walk, crawl, swim, or grow, then don't eat it. And once you lose the weight, don't go back to the way you were eating, or it will all just come back.
Need help with Cravings, Hunger, Thirst or Habitual Eating?  Before I can help you I need to know that you can distinguish the difference between cravings, hunger, thirst and habitual eating. Cravings are a strong urge for a specific food or food group, they are usually associated with a vitamin deficiency. This is why it is commonly said among pregnant women that they should eat anything they crave. (So the growing baby is not deficient of anything)   Hunger is a physical feeling that is felt in the stomach, it is a feeling of emptiness and can not be mistaken, however often we trick ourselves or just down right lie and say we are hungry with we really aren't. To distinguish the difference between hunger or not, ask yourself this, "Do I feel the hunger in my stomach, or is it in my head?"  Our need for water is a multi level demand and the symptoms associated with the lack of hydration varies. Most americans do not drink water unless they are "thirsty" And even then most of them drink flavored water because regular water is "boring" or "has no taste" which is a whole other issue but I will save that topic for another article.  I saved water for last because it is the most important role in dealing with cravings. In fact the same chemical response that happens in your brain when you're hungry is the same one when you are thirsty. That is why you should stop to ask yourself if you feel the hunger in your stomach or your head. Because if you do not feel the hunger in your stomach then you are not hungry at all but in all actuality you are suffering from a symptom of DEHYDRATION. (Which is another article in itself) Ok, So now you know the difference between cravings, hunger, and thirst. But what about habitual eating? That is the practice of walking into the kitchen and opening up the fridge and looking in it or the cabinet and seeing what in it. Most of us do this, and it is a very bad habit and it can form into habitual eating. You get bored and walk into the kitchen and just look what's in the fridge or cabinet and you end up munching on something every night around the same time when the truth is you are not hungry at all. The only weapons you have against this is to recognize the pattern and willpower to break the cycle.  Eating vegetables high in fiber and water will limit cravings to nil. Drinking .5 oz of water per pound of bodyweight per day will insure proper hydration which will not send your brain a false positive feeling of hunger and limit redundant eating. Also reducing your sodium intake will also reduce the demand for hydration and also lower your water retention which is always a good thing.  - Patrick

When I start a new relationship with a client I ask them about their goals, short term, long term etc. Many times they have a picture of someone else and they want to look like them, or they give me a picture of them when they were at their peak performance 10-20 years ago.      I often hear "There is a trip coming up and I need to lose 42 pounds by then."      Then I ask "When is your trip?"       They usually respond with or similar to "The trip is in 4 weeks"   The ideas and practices of weight loss today with most people revolve around a false knowledge that is manipulated and backed by scientific studies that were funded by the same companies that also happen to sell the products that will ultimately make THEM money and leave YOU on a never ending repetitive cycle of fad diets and trendy "natural supplements" that will string out and never end just as this sentence.  Wow. I sorta went off there for a second, let me get you back on track and explain why what I just said relates to losing 42 pounds in 4 weeks.  Because the reason these trendy fad diets and supplements and programs sell is because we live in a society where we want everything now. And we know it and we even laugh and joke about it.   But you seriously want to lose weight? Right!? We all want to lose the weight and keep it off. OK, NOW I AM GOING TO SAVE YOU MONEY. Here it is folks, this is the truth. Healthy weight loss is on average 10 pounds a month. This does not mean you can not lose 20 pounds in your first month but that is another story, and depending on how over weight you are even a small fraction of your body weight loss is such a substantial number it looks good on paper. However ultimately it will average out around 10 pounds a month of weight loss.  Stop buying any and all weight loss products that sell you on quick results with before and after pictures on the bottle. If you want to lose weight and unsure how, Contact me and I will help you out. But if you are looking to do this on your own then know this: OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING a healthy body weight is about everyday choices for the rest of your life. And there really is no way around it.
